What is Cocoa?

The cocoa bean is the seed of the cacao tree, a tropical plant indigenous to the equatorial regions of the Americas. From the processed  bean comes the fluid paste, from which cocoa powder and chocolate are made . trees grow in hot, rainy tropical areas within 20° of latitude from the Equator. harvest is not restricted to one period per year and a harvest typically occurs over several months. In fact, in many countries, can be harvested at any time of the year.

rich in polyphenols, which have significant health benefits, including reduced inflammation and improved cholesterol levels. However, processing  into chocolate or other products can substantially decrease the polyphenol content.
